We have a mistle thrush in the garden which likes to sing from the top of the tallest tree. They are described as greyish looking birds which makes me wonder if this is a song thrush with its warmer brown colouring. How do you tell?
That is definitely a Mistle Thrush - creamy with dark spots; they love high trees, have an upright appearance but the most distinguishing feature is their call when in flight - it's a loud rattle! Great photo.
yes, I can recognise mistle thrushes normally, and their alarm call. I thought this one was quite slender for a mistle thrush and brown rather than grey, but I agree about the spots.
