thank you

Why? Why put rubbish neatly in a plastic bag and then chuck it out into the countryside?

a waste of Spring

Sadly, flowers are not the only things to be found growing in the lanes. These waste tips have appeared by the side of Rowden lane, a bridle path. It is not easy to access this area and it must take some effort to get a trailer loaded with rubbish here and dump it, why not use that effort to get rid of the waste legally? I have made this point  before several times (to no avail of course); it is so sad to see the countryside abused and violated in this way.

not as pretty as it seems

this is the variegated form of yellow archangel. Although pretty, it is almost certainly a garden escapee, and in that there are no gardens nearby it is probably the result of people dumping their garden waste at the entrance to Rowden lane (a bridle path in the parish) rather than taking it to a tip. This is also why there are some spanish bluebells on the other side of the lane. They are slowly working their way along the lane and will inevitably displace or hybridise with the extensive beds of native bluebells further down the bridle path. It may seem harmless but this casual thoughtless behaviour is destroying our native flora.

swamp dogs

oh what fun it is to run around until you misjudge how deep the swamp is. No dogs were harmed in the taking of these photographs which is more than you can say for this monstrosity
These things make me feel so much pain and anger I have to turn away. Is it so important to be so clever?

what sort of trash is this?

someone very kindly dumped these objets d'art at the end of Rowden lane. The lamp thing is very distinctive. Do you recognise it? Can we identify the villains?

thank you

I cannot tell you how much I hate the scum who do this, and the people who pass the laws that encourage it by taxing those who dispose of waste legally.

the Sun rains down

the Sun, thrown thoughtfully out of a passing vehicle, carpeting the lanes.

I dreamt of dying last night; not about dying, but doing the thing itself, only to wake (reincarnate?) in this parallel universe in a state of relief but confusion.

What we see here is the death of England, casual, contemptuous, careless and full of loathing. I am optimistic for humanity as a whole because we can and do solve problems, but I fear for the local branch and its mindless, barbaric self.

Stoke Climsland

Spot felt that the blog was becoming too biological and asked for some of his favourite views to be included. All that is missing from this Spring view is the trail of litter up the hill. Some people locally express the view that litter bins do not belong in the country side, unfortunately litter louts do. And then someone wants to reduce rubbish collections to once a fortnight. How about employing someone to pick it all up?

Goodnight Spot.

destroying the planet

this 50 yard stretch of the river bank by the lovely Inny is being destroyed rapidly. The erosion has gradually been extended each year by cattle out to pasture. Why? There are other ways in and out.

Farmers don't own the land, they hold it in trust for all living things, human and otherwise, not just their own family. A little care is all that is needed, more husbandry less butchery.

Spot is justifiably very sad. Posted by Picasa

Duchy College litter

which is more than can be said for the young people who go to Duchy college. This is the little lane that runs between the Post office and the college. It is full of litter, dropped as the last crisp goes into the gob, thus establishing a neat distribution curve, along the lane, of time against size of packet. They even bother to stuff the cans in the hedgerows, presumably it is easier to see them at eye level to check they are still there. What is wrong with human young? Agricultural students? Rubbish, I say.

Harriet has taken to drinking at lunchtime. At least she takes the can home.

why

in a quiet wood, not far from the Tamar, miles from anywhere. Why do people do this? What sort of barbarous species are you? Destroy the planet to save £20.

more oil cans from the river bank

Max is examining this attractive yellow oil can, might as well leave it in the hedgerow as pick it up and take it back. along with the beer bottles, coke cans, take away polystyrene hamburger boxes. How about fining every fast food joint for every item of litter found within, say, ten miles of the premises. it would stop then. And a tenner for every tesco's bag. Or, bright idea, they pay 10p for each one returned?
Or let,s just sod the planet and disappear under a mountain of rubbish.

beds in the countryside

who wants to sleep here? why do this to the world you live in? I do not understand people.
