more simple pleasures ...Stoke Climsland flower show 2010

In a pleasantly reassuring way the yearly cycle of our lives continues. Many hours of hard work and loving attention go into the annual flower show which although much smaller than many years ago is still well supported. Followers of Spot's blog will be pleased to know that several of the pictures from the blog did quite well in the photography classes. The top two photos show people getting their exibits ready (and tasting them it would seem), and the bottom photo shows the lunch ladies who work extremely hard in the village hall to get lunch ready for all the judges and stewards and organisers and dignitaries (of whom there are few).

How exciting! Which pics did you show? My fave would have been the resting dragonfly from JULY 29 post--need details! :0)

PS--more importantly, were you invited to lunch? :0)

We were invited to lunch but unfortunately we had a prior engagement to play for the Rest of the World against Cornwall at the local links. The dragonfly photograph might have frightened the local children. We won two classes (seasonal photo, and close up of animal), and came second in two more. We might have won more but the judge (Mr Wesley Colwill ...he must be a methodist) became suspicious that all the photographs with an entry number ending in A were the work of the same person, who was stewarding him (they were) and studiously avoided giving them further approval ... thus just avoiding official complaints by jealous fellow competitors. It's a jungle out there.

Too bad about the lunch miss but then, it is all about world domination on the links or court!

4 prizes is sensational...could this be a future post? Would enjoy seeing the seasonal photo and close-up used (and I'll probably say, "Oh, yes, that one! I know it")

I can't post them all, it would be immodest. The close up was the robin picture posted on 29/12/2008. I have added the seasonal pic to the bottom of this post ...it is quite attractive!
